Phase 01
Before the appointment
General preparation considerations. Your artist's own written instructions always come first — this page never replaces them.
- Confirm the appointment time and studio location directly with the studio.
- Review the artist's actual preparation instructions and follow them.
- Bring required identification.
- Eat appropriately beforehand unless a qualified professional has instructed otherwise.
- Stay reasonably hydrated.
- Wear clothing that allows comfortable access to the tattoo area.
- Arrive clean.
- Do not arrive intoxicated or impaired.
- Discuss relevant allergies, skin concerns, health conditions and medications with the appropriate licensed healthcare professional, and tell your artist what they need to know.
- Contact the artist in advance if you are sick, sunburned, injured, or have a skin problem near the tattoo site.
- Ask the studio directly instead of relying on social-media myths.
